Giving back in a sweet way.

We know it’s important to give back to the community, and we can do so in the sweetest way possible.

Since 2017, blue & ruby cake art has supported Life’s Little Treasure’s (LLT), a foundation established to provide support, friendship and information, specifically tailored for families of premature and sick babies.

We provide Life’s Little Treasures with our sweet things for the morning tea’s they host in range of hospital’s around Melbourne.

Our story

I haven’t had a premmie baby. In fact, my first son was born the day before his due date, and my second son arrived on his due date (which only happens in 4% of births!).

Back in November of 2009, our gorgeous nieces Aurelia Violet, and Indiana Torah were born prematurely – at 25 weeks gestation.

They had a 50/50 chance of survival. With Aurelia weighing in at 910 grams, and Indy at 695 grams (so tiny!), the odds were stacked against them.

Now absolutely thriving, Aurelia and Indy showed our family what it means to fight. And with Life’s Little Treasures there, my brother and sister-in-law were supported at a time when they truly needed it the most.

The shock of extreme premature babies, whether anticipated or not, is something no one could be prepared for. When our identical twins were born at 25 weeks gestation, we were blessed to be surrounded by a highly competent and understanding medical team. The focus of this team was around the daily survival of our girls. As non-medical parents, we had so many questions, terms to learn and challenges to face. This is where Life’s Little Treasure became an invaluable source of help for us. First it started with an information pack to help us understand our bizarre new world, but it continued with support meetings where we met parents who “really understood”.

We are so grateful for the generosity of individuals like Lauren from blue + ruby cake art who kindly show how much they care about families of premature and sick babies by providing donations and support to the Life’s Little Treasures Foundation. Lauren has donated month after month for the last 3 years, a variety of delicious sweet treats to help support our NICU Connections events held in Neonatal units across Melbourne. Her generous donations help us provide something extra special for families to eat with a cuppa at a time when they need it the most, whilst they are in the NICU/SCN.
